Description
When we make chocolate, we use the bean. When we’re done, we use what’s left.
The outer husk of the cocoa bean – the papery shell that’s removed during the winnowing process – is the part most chocolate makers discard.
We dry it, roast it & pack it as loose leaf tea. Nothing leaves our workshop unused.
Cocoa tea is one of the oldest drinks in the cacao-growing world. Long before craft chocolate existed, the people of Trinidad, Jamaica & West Africa were brewing the husk into a warm morning cup – earthy, gently chocolatey, deeply comforting. Not hot chocolate. Not a chocolate flavoured tea. Something older & more honest than either.
Our cocoa tea is blended from the husks of all the single origin beans we work with, a little Madagascar brightness, a little Belize earthiness, a little India spice all brewed together into one cup that tastes quietly, unmistakably of cacao.
In the cup it’s warm & earthy with a gentle chocolatey depth & a naturally smooth finish. Naturally rich in theobromine – a gentler, longer lasting energy than caffeine, with no spike & no crash. High in antioxidant flavonoids, dietary fibre & magnesium.
Naturally low in calories. Caffeine free.
